Jody Loaring

Biography

Jody Loaring is an Australian multidisciplinary artist who has produced award-winning sculptural works since 1992, held in public and private collections. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Edith Cowan University, majoring in textiles and photography, and lectures in Visual Arts at NRTAFE, Western Australia. In 2024, she was an invited exhibitor at the prestigious Homo Faber Craft Biennale: The Journey of Life in Venice and was recognised as a master artisan by the Michelangelo Foundation. She is the first Western Australian artisan featured in the launch of Australian Craftsmanship on the Homo Faber Guide. Born in Margaret River and now based in Broome, Jody’s textile background informs her multidisciplinary practice, which includes sculptural, coiled, woven, and mixed media works. Her practice is grounded in personal and familial histories, exploring themes of memory, origin, and place.
